African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) is a non-profit organization motivated to strive to develop and institutionalize programs to defend the human and civil rights of the African community, and to address the grave disparities in education, health, healthcare, and economic development faced by the African community.

 

All Nations Outreach Center

All Nations Outreach Center (ANOC) is a group of diverse believers from various races, countries, and denominations who work together to celebrate grace in community to bring others together. ANOC is faithfully committed to good stewardship and integrity in the management of the resources God has provided.

 

Alpha House of Tampa

The Alpha House of Tampa is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 to serve pregnant women in crisis and their families. Their mission is to empower pregnant and parenting women in crisis to realize their ability to break the cycles of poverty and abuse and create promising lives.

 

American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association leads the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fight for those affected—by diabetes. Their mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

 

 

 

American Red Cross

Founded just three years ago, USF’s American Red Cross Club on the Tampa campus club boasts more than 1,100 members and is the university’s fastest-growing student organization. They have responded to hundreds of single-family fires in the Tampa Bay area, comforting adults, children and seniors who have been rendered homeless and providing emergency aid in their first hours of need.

 

 

 

Bakas Equestrian Center

The Bakas Equestrian Center is a non-profit organization was formed during the planning stages of Bakas to specifically assist with the Hillsborough County Therapeutic Recreation program. They offer horseback riding to children and adults and specialize in those with disabilities.

 

 

 

Bay Area Youth Services

BAYS is partnering with the Home Builder’s Institute to offer an industry sponsored mentoring program for teenagers, aged 16-18, seeking career guidance, job attainment and retention. The Construction Coaching Opportunities to Reach Employment (C-CORE) mentoring is unique in that it matches youth who are participating in residential construction training programs or interested in the field with mentors from the industry.

 

 

Beth-El Farmworker Ministry

Beth-El Farmworker Ministry began in 1976 when a small group of Cumberland Presbyterians rented a tiny house in Ruskin, Florida and began holding Spanish-language church services for migrant farmworkers. The Ministry serves the nearby rural population. It operates under a covenant among its governing bodies, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Tampa Bay and Peace River Presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Carrollwood Care Center

The Carrollwood Care Center has been serving Hillsborough County for over 20 years. For those residents who can no longer be on their own and need long term care they offer general nursing and restorative services in a warm and home like environment.

 

 

CDC of Tampa

The Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. (CDC of Tampa, Inc.) formerly Lee Davis Neighborhood Development Corporation) was incorporated in 1992 for the purpose of alleviating, poverty and physical deterioration in Hillsborough County’s East Tampa community.

 

 

Child Abuse Council

The Child Abuse Council, Inc. (CAC) was established in 1977 and it is guided by a voluntary Board with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. The CAC builds stronger families in the Tampa Bay region through its prevention and family education programs.

The Daystar Life Center was founded in 1982 as a small parish ministry of “people helping people”. The Center’s purpose is to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families, most of whom are living below the federal poverty level.

Everyday Blessings, Inc

Everyday Blessings, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization serving foster care children (newborn through 17 years of age) who have been removed from their homes due to physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse, abandonment or neglect. Everyday Blessings, Inc. cares for up to 36 children while they await permanent placement.

Feeding America Tampa Bay

Feeding America is the largest domestic hunger relief organization in the country, consisting of a network of more than 200 food banks. With the help of fellow food banks, they have the ability to leverage food donor relationships and effectively transport food to feed hungry Americans.

 

 

Goodwill Industries-Suncoast, Inc./ GoodGuides Youth Mentoring Program

Goodwill-Suncoast helps thousands of people overcome a variety of barriers to employment through employment programs, five subsidized apartment buildings, work activities centers for adults with developmental disabilities, as well as rehabilitative community corrections facilities. Their mission is to help people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work.

 

 

Guardian ad Litem-Hillsborough County

The State of Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is a network of professional staff and community advocates, partnering to provide a strong voice in court and positive systemic change on behalf of Florida’s abused and neglected children.

 

 

Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County

Habitat for Humanity of East & Central Pasco works in partnership with God and people everywhere – from all walks of life – to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent homes in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended.

Homeless Coalition of Hillsborough County

The Homeless Coalition of Hillsborough County is responsible for advancing the community-developed plans – ”Places for People,” the Tampa/Hillsborough 10-year plan to end homelessness and the Tampa-Hillsborough Citizens Task Force on Homelessness – to help our homeless neighbors.

Metropolitan Ministries faithfully reaches out to poor, hungry and homeless men, women and children in their time of need — providing life-changing answers. Peace Corps Ambassadors at USF

Peace Corps Ambassadors at USF seeks to promote the mission statement of Peace Corps at the University of South Florida and the satellite branches, as well as throughout the entire Tampa Bay Area. The goals of the Peace Corps are to promote peace and stability through education and training; foster understanding of other peoples among Americans; and enhance other peoples’ understanding of Americans.

Refugee Youth and Family Program – Florida Center for Survivors of Torture

Beginning with one social worker and a secretary in a small office, Gulf Coast now employs over 370 case managers agency-wide and boasts a point-in-time case load of more than 6,000 individuals. Their mission is to provide essential human services to individuals and families in times of need.

Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc. manages volunteers to meet the challenges of the community with services that offer mentoring, tutoring and companionship. Incorporated in Hillsborough County in 1984 was created to engage retirees in this community for the benefit of those in need as well as their own fulfillment.

 

Shriners Hospital for Children – Tampa

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Tampa is a 60-bed pediatric hospital, research and teaching center providing comprehensive medical, surgical and rehabilitative care to children with orthopaedic conditions. They provide quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment.

 

 

Sulphur Springs Museum

The museum was the vision of three individuals [Joseph Robinson, Norma Robinson, and Linda Hope] who in 2006 looked to enrich the lives of its residence with the history of the community. The Sulphur Springs Museum and Heritage Center has been created “to celebrate and preserve the history of Sulphur Springs a community that help Tampa’s growth”

 

 

 

Tampa Beautification

Tampa Bay Beautification (founded in 1989) and Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful (founded in 1992) have recently merged to form Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful. Building on the success of these two nonprofits, Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful continues to have a huge impact in our community.

Tampa Bay HEAT is a non-profit, Christian organization, but not a ministry of a specific church. They provide an opportunity for homeschooled students to play on a competitive team comprised entirely of homeschooled kids in a Christ-centered environment.

University Community Ministries, Inc. / PCAT Family Literacy Program

PCAT’s mission is to continue to offer an after-school literacy reading intervention Program in socially and economically depressed and undeserved areas of Hillsborough County. The Program will continue to service first and second grade children who have been identified by school officials as reading below a desired reading level and displays low academic achievement.

 

Upward Bound

The Upward Bound Program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound at USF serves high school students from low-income families and students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree (first-generation college students).
